Answer

When sending mail from your local computer and you find that mails are not being sent,

  • Ensure you have the correct username and password details set in the account settings of your mailbox on your local computer.
Note: All usernames are of the format myname@ domainname.com on bayside solutions servers.
  • Most internet service providers (for example, Bigpond) will only allow you to use their own outgoing mail servers. Be sure to set the outgoing mail server (SMTP server) according to your internet service providers rules when setting up your email.
The outgoing mail server for OPTUSNET is mail.optusnet.com.au
The outgoing mail server for BIGPOND is mail.bigpond.com
See below for a full list of Australian IPS outgoing mail servers
  • Be sure you have not sent greater than the maximum allowed send size for your email server and a mail is stuck in your outbox. If there is a mail stuck in your outbox in Microsoft Outlook, do the following in Outlook.
From the menu bar select File->Work Offline.
Now go into the outbox and delete the mail and go back online.
  • You must resize your attachment before you can send it.
(default send size on all Bayside Solutions severs is around 20 Megabytes. Many accounts outside of Bayside Servers, have default maximum send and receive sizes, under 10 megabytes, so you mail, if it is too large for them to receive, will be rejected by their server)
  • The traffic limit has been reached for your domain and restrictions have been placed on your domains entire incoming and outgoing traffic. Exceeding the traffic limits on Bayside Solutions servers, will only push you through to the next level of hosting without any restrictions being placed on your services. This is stated in the policy and was agreed to when the service was paid for.
  • Your server has been blacklisted - check here http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx
  • Be sure that you have set your outgoing mail server correctly for the current service you are using. Do not use outgoing mail servers that do not relate to the service you are using and also not your domain name or SPF filtering may occur on your emails at the recipients end.
